Intimate access to a Native community of Isles de Jean Charles in Louisiana as they win the first of its kind US national climate grant to relocate together, as their homeland is lost to rising sea levels.
Since the 1950s, this small strip of land, once 18 km by 8 km, has lost 98% of its mass. Today, the thin strip is linked precariously to the mainland by a road flanked by water on either side. The fear is that the island will wash away in the next big storm.
This is the story of the islanders’ fight to ensure their dreams become a reality and that they find a new home beyond the water.
